Well not entirely sure if I can play in it, as I still do my weekly gaming down at Castle on Wed and Thurs nights...but I'll see if I can work it into my schedule somehow and let you know as soon as I can either way.

Yeah, legally the Generation 1Transformer Fan-Based game I wrote has no -I repeat, NO affiliation with Whole Sum Entertainment.  If you want it, I think one of the top sites for downloading it is a site full of free fan-made RPGs called Scifi 411 -for legal reasons I won't post the link, but you can Google it pretty easily.  From what I understand there are many fans that have taken it and tweaked it with some abstract/scale modifiers for simplifying speeds and distances.  There were also a group of guys converting it to include stuff from the more recent Transformers cartoons, etc.  I don't know where any of this stuff is out there, but I'm sure it's there.  Enjoy...

Well not sure if this should be discussed here or via PM's or what, but oh well.  Louis is there any chance of you guys putting the Transformers RPG you had made up on a site?  If not can you e-mail the documents to me...as I have been considering trying to run one but for some reason don't seem to have the rules and such anymore.

Well we're currently mainly pplaying D&D 4th Edition...but when I run I tend to stray from it and run non D20 games...like the next game I was considering running was going to be DC.  Of course if you run DC you have to use the villains from the comics at least once in a while...although I haven't decided fully on a power level(homemade or otherwise) for the game.

As far as your schedule not being open for any kind of regular gaming, that's understandable.  Just keep in mind that we still game every Wed and Thurs down at Castle, and if you ever do get the chance to possibly game again we should be able to get you into whatever game is being run at the time.

Also if you do demo down at Castle...or decide to play online let me know when and I'll try to show up and demo/play the game...Chris probly will as well so long as he doesn't have to work then.

Hear you are folks another one of my old gaming buddy's from Castle's!  How are you Cory, good to hear from you!  What sort of scenario our you guys doing with DCU?  Are you playing with DC characters/villains?  Is Jason playing? ...did he remake Inferno? (Sorry folks -a lot of inside talk here).  I probably need to go down to the shop and talk to Rose about demoing Century's Edge some weekend for you guys and anyone else that is interested.  Right now I'm under a huge time crunch to finish some projects before GenCon, so being able to game regularly at the shop doesn't seem possible.  We are going to have a game of CE through RPGTonight.com open to whomever signs up for it (we'll be posting about it at the end of next week ~June 11, 2010).

Welcome to the boards Wulgar!

I think your point about "What kind of game you're in the mood for" is well taken.  This was one of the things that nauseated me about the whole OGL D&D 3.5 thing.  Every game (regardless of theme/content) was running off the same rules -it all became vanilla...  I have a complete collection of DC Universe books.  As I usually play in a generic comic book world when running the system, the daily planet hasn't been of much use to me, but the DEO Agent Manual is handy because it references the rest of the books, listing all the skills, powers, limitations, enhancements, etc. that exist in the game and giving the page numbers (for those of you that are unfamiliar, in typical WEG fashion the rules and alterations for the rules of DCU are spread out throughout all the books -a good marketing tool to get you to buy everything they published for the system -but one we've sworn to try and stay away from with our games...).  It's exciting to hear someone else enjoyed that system -I've always felt like a mutant when I talk about it with other gamers and they seemingly have never heard of it or played it.

One category that wasn't on your list was modern systems or perhaps paramilitary systems.  I really enjoyed the gritty realities of Twilight:2000 back in the days.  I recall that the system was cantankerous, but the pre-made modules for that game were always very well done -lots of "you're led to think X, but find that the reality of the situation is Y."  TSR's original version of Top Secret was also fun to play -but far from being realistic.

Alright Louie I'll bite and post on here as well.  I'm Chris's younger brother Cory...so obviously my last name is Morgan.  Before I say anything about Century's Edge or such I'll go ahead and confirm what we were playing when you were in the gaming group just for curiosity's sake...DC Universe was the main game at the time, but we also played a little bit of D6 Star Wars and occassionaly at the time 3rd Edition D&D(mainly on the days you weren't able to show up Louie).

Anyways like Chris I haven't had the chance to actually play Century's Edge due to lack of a book and the other's in our group currently don't seem to want to run through the demo.  However I have read through the demo multiple times to get a feel for the system and I've gotta say it seems very well thought out and easy to learn while still being a smooth system(kinda like DC Universe was...unless you had certain Manipulation powers).  Whenever Chris breaks down and gets a copy of the book finally I'm sure we'll be able to play it and give a better insight into the game.

Oh and by the way Louie, any chance of you running another DC Universe game...whether it be at Castle, or online via a forum or something like OpenRPG.  As I would love a chance to play he system again rather than most likely fail at running it again.

Well let me think, my favorite RPG's out there...that's a tough one as alot of the systems are good.  Heck part of he reason this is a tough one is you have to ask yourself what type of game your in the mood to play each time your about to role play.  However I'll break it down in hopefully an easy to understand way.  Also before I list my favs...yes I have played DC Universe by West End Games and would love a chance to play in a game of that system again.  Heck it would give me something to do with the near complete collection of the books...missing only the DEO Agent Manual and the Daily Planet Guides.  Anyways here's my listing of favorite games.

Fantasy
Combat: Conan by Mongoose Publishing/D&D 4th Edition
Non Combat: D&D 2nd Edition/D&D 3.5 Edition
Overall: Earthdawn

Futuristic
Combat: Cyberpunk
Non Combat: Star Wars by West End Games
Overall: Star Wars Saga Edition

Superhero
Combat: DC Universe
Non Combat: DC Universe
Overall: DC Universe

Others worth mentioning
Marvel diceless system by Marvel
A Game of Throwns by Sword and Sorcery
Century's Edge
Scion
World of Darkness(Vampire, Werewolf, Hunter)
Supernatural

So I guess if I had to choose one rpg as my favorite overall it would be DC Universe by West End Games.
